All our teachers are dedicated professionals who specialise in teaching English to children.
They come from all over the world and have gone through a rigorous selection process.
They also participate in our continuous professional development programme, which allows them to extend their skills and knowledge and also obtain further formal qualifications.
To be eligible to apply for a teaching position at the British Council, teachers must have:
- a university degree (bachelor's or above)
- a post-graduate qualification in teaching English as a foreign language recognised by the British Council
- highly proficient English (equivalent to IELTS 8.5 /9, or CEFR C2)
- at least two years’ prior teaching experience.
Besides, it will be useful to add that all our teachers are professionals and engaged in continuing professional development. This includes regular internal training, as well as performance management and observations. We also provide our teachers with training and support towards formal qualifications, such as Trinity TYLEC (Teaching Young Learners) and Trinity Diploma (a post-graduate diploma at Level 7 of the National Qualifications Framework).
