This will be the sixth time this event has been held in Hanoi and the first time it has travelled to Ho Chi Minh City. The vivid literature festival with contributions from eight European countries will be full of activities for book lovers including book presentations, readings, workshops, exhibitions, films, prizes and big discounts on European books in book street, Nguyen Van Binh.
This annual European Literature Day has been successfully organised in Hanoi by EUNIC, the association of European Cultural Institutes and Embassies, since 2011. It celebrates and shares the best of European literature with Vietnamese readers, and for 2016, it will visit Ho Chi Minh City, widening this opportunity for literature lovers in Vietnam.
This year, there is something for everyone, with books from Denmark, Germany, France, Sweden, Great Britain, Italy, Spain and Belgium. They will be available to browse in the conference rooms, and exhibitions (Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City) and in book street (Ho Chi Minh City) and are sure to satisfy all types of book lovers, from children to adults. There is also the chance to meet authors, listen to talks and readings, or register for workshops on creative writing. There will also be book discounts in Ho Chi Minh City adding to this year’s program.
In Hanoi all events will take place at the Goethe-Institut, L’Espace or Casa Italia, while in Ho Chi Minh City events will be at the Library of General Sciences, IDECAF or in Books Street.
