Thank you for choosing to take the IELTS exam with the British Council in Vietnam. To ensure a smooth IELTS exam experience, please carefully read the following information and regulations.

To check your exam registration details and the latest updates about your IELTS test, please log into your Test Taker Portal.

Instructions for checking your exam registration details

Notice:

  • Log into your Test Taker Portal using the email which you used to register for the exam (via personal email for candidates over 18 years old or via a guardian's email for candidates under 18).
  • In cases of force majeure, the British Council will reschedule the exam’s time and location. We will notify candidates via email and/or phone call before the original exam date. However, you should proactively check your personal details, exam time, and location on the Test Taker Portal at least one (01) day before the first exams component.

Pre-exams notice

  1. If a candidate needs to adjust personal information, on their registered identification document, such as type of identification, full name, gender, date of birth, native language, and/or nationality, the candidate must inform the British Council at least two (02) working days before the first exam component. If a candidate needs to change their exam date or module, he/she must follow the instructions found in the Rescheduling and Cancellation Policy which are applicable to Academic Training and General Training IELTS.
  2. All candidates registered for IELTS with the British Council will receive free access to the British Council’s personalised online practice platform ‘IELTS Ready Premium’ which contains 40 mock tests, complete with answers and detailed explanations. Based on your mock test results, ‘IELTS Ready Premium’ will customise your study plan to help you achieve your target score. The platform is integrated into your Test Taker Portal under the "Preparation" section. Please log in to experience it here.

Important information on exams day

  1. Test takers need to arrive at least 60 minutes before the Listening/Reading/Writing session and at least 20 minutes before the Speaking session. Test takers will not be admitted after the test room is closed.
  2. Test takers must bring their VALID ORIGINAL PASSPORT or IDENTITY CARD used during registration. Test takers will not be allowed into the exam rooms nor will the exam fee be refunded if the identification document is invalid.

Post-exams services

1. Your IELTS exam results will be available within 1-5 working days (for computer-based IELTS exams) or 13 days (for paper-based IELTS exams). Please log into the Test Taker Portal to see your IELTS results online.

2. You can collect the hard copy of your original Test Report Form at the British Council offices in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City.

  • For computer-based IELTS exam, the original Test Report Form will be available 48 working hours after the results are available online. 
  • For paper-based IELTS exams, the original Test Report Form will be available as soon as the results are available online.

Note: If you cannot collect the original Test Report Form yourself at a British Council office, you can request to have it sent to your home free of charge after the exam day. Otherwise, you may authorise someone else to collect it on your behalf. Detailed instructions can be found here.

3. The British Council can directly send your Additional Test Report Form to organisations where you need to submit your IELTS scores within two years from the exam date. Please refer to the IELTS Distribution policy for more details.

Note: Candidates registering for the Electronic Test Report Form (eTRF) service need to provide accurate address and postal code information of the organisations where they need to submit their scores.

4. If you did not receive the score you expected, you can apply for your test to be re-marked. Please log into the Test Taker Portal to submit an Enquiry on Result (EOR) request.

From 05 April 2024, candidates taking the computer-based IELTS test can have a chance to improve their scores quickly by registering to retake one skill within 60 days from the first exam component date. Read more about IELTS One Skill Retake here.
