Masterclass series Live from Wales is a programme that features live virtual classes delivered by lecturers from Welsh universities. Students who joined these classes learned a variety of practical topics such as Design, Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, Tourism Management, Marketing, Market Research, Journalism and Supply Chain Management.

Episode 1: Meta Design and Design Philosophy – University of Wales Trinity Saint David

In the first episode, Dr Peter Spring from University of Wales Trinity Saint David delivered the lecture ‘Meta Design and Design Philosophy’ in the topic ‘Design and Creativity’. Through this class, students were provided with general information about the concept, application and future of Meta Design.

Episode 2: Big Data, Artificial Intelligence and Society – Cardiff Metropolitan University

The second episode examines the topic ‘Big Data and Artificial Intelligence’ taught by Dr Imtiaz Khan, Data Science lecturer from Cardiff Metropolitan University. The content of this class included the concept of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, as well as the common application of Artificial Intelligence in our daily lives.

Episode 3: Tourism: Should We All Stop Taking Holidays? – Swansea University

Professor Sarah Nicholls from Swansea University delivered an insightful lecture with the topic ‘Tourism Management’. Students had the opportunity to update information about the trend of tourism after COVID-19, the effects of tourism on environment and discuss the question ‘Should we all stop taking holidays?’.

Episode 4: MSC Marketing: Play Your Cards Right – University of South Wales

In these days, Marketing is always a hot subject which many students want to apply when they study abroad at postgraduate level. In this class, lecturer Martyn Rowling, Head of Business Department, University of South Wales led and discussed some typical case studies of marketing in business as well as the effect of marketing research on the business area.

Episode 5: Marketing Research: Questionnaire Design and Measurement – Bangor University

In the fifth class, Dr Nguyen Thi Hong Ngoc from Bangor University examined basic problems in questionnaire design and measurement, then provided insightful methods to design an effective questionnaire.

Episode 6: International Journalism: Developing Feature Ideas For Magazines – Cardiff University

With the topic ‘International Journalism’ of the sixth class, students and lecturer Matt Swaine from Cardiff University analysed the demands of readers, the writing process and learned how to make titles for magazine covers, thereby discovering more insightful information about the famous magazines and ways to understand readers’ needs.

Episode 7: MBA Supply Chain Management: Geopolitical And Economic Changes and Their Impact on Business Strategy – Aberystwyth University

In the seventh episode, Andrew Thomas, Director of Business School of Aberystwyth University delivered the lecture ‘MBA Supply Chain Management’, with the main content exploring Global Manufacturing, as well as the way to approach intelligent factories and systems.

Episode 8: All About Wales

In the last episode of this masterclass series, students had an opportunity to meet and talk with Mr. Bill Burson, Market Development Manager of Universities Wales in Vietnam, and representatives and students from five Welsh universities (Bangor University, University of South Wales, University of Wales Trinity Saint David, Cardiff Metropolitan University and Cardiff University).
