After delivering the New Directions conference online for the past two years, this year’s event was held face-to-face in Bali, Indonesia, on 9 and 10 December 2022. The conference theme was Bridging Divides: Towards a Comprehensive Approach to Language Teaching, Learning and Assessment. Over 230 people from around the globe and East Asia, including a considerable contingent from Viet Nam, were in attendance to learn more about the changes in the field of language assessment and the impact this is having on the teaching and learning of English.

The one minute video above offers a perfect snapshot of some of the activities from day one of the conference. Below, you can see more images from the conference, including the conference closing, where there was an important announcement about the location for next year’s conference.
