The report, produced by Music Ally, stems from research on collaboration and development opportunities for the music business spanning the period 2024–2027 between the UK and Vietnam. This collaboration involved the Hozo International Music Festival, as part of the British Council’s UK/Viet Nam Seasons 2023 programme.
The report conducted in-depth interviews with industry leaders, policymakers, subsidiary bodies, and music entrepreneurs in both the UK and Vietnam. It focused on four main areas:
- Creative Economy
- Creative Entrepreneurship
- Live Music
- Digital: Music – Technology
The report introduces expert perspectives and current issues in the UK's implementation and development process while providing Vietnamese viewpoints and comments on the topic. These insights serve as a basis for proposing appropriate recommendations which are intended as a foundation for further in-depth discussions with policy makers, right holders, agencies and organisations operating in the Vietnamese music industry in the coming years.
Marking 50 years of UK–Vietnamese diplomatic relations, and 30 years of the British Council’s presence in Viet Nam, the Season ignite new collaborations that celebrate the best of UK–Vietnamese partnerships and strengthen the connections between the people of the UK and Viet Nam.
The Season will imagine our future together by bringing together artists, universities, and civil society leaders. People across Viet Nam and the UK are having the opportunity to experience innovative and exciting creative work from some of the best UK and Viet Nam companies, artists and institutions creating together.
