The British Council is proud to be supporting the fourth edition of the much anticipated Monsoon Music Festival from 10 to 12 November. The event is expected to attract tens of thousands of music lovers, with an impressive line-up of twelve bands coming from ten different countries all over the world. To this large scale outdoor festival we will be bringing emerging UK talent BUD, an independent song writer whose music has roots in reggae and dub as well as pop.
Bringing artistic talents from the UK to perform in Vietnam has always been a part of the British Council’s work to promote friendly knowledge and understanding between people of the two countries ever since we first came to Vietnam in the early 1990s. We are excited to see an increasing number of music venues and events in Vietnam, offering young audiences a wealth of opportunities to participate in cultural life. Large cities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang are en route to becoming amazing destinations for the world’s music, as the country's young population holds a strong interest in cultures outside of Vietnam.
This video captures the wonderful dynamic vibe of the local music scene, presenting exciting opportunities for international artists to showcase their talents, to connect with new audiences, and to have a taste of the inner workings of Vietnam. We hope you will enjoy following the journey of Rukhsana Merise and her band at the Monsoon Music Festival 2016, and we look forward to seeing you at BUD’s Vietnam debut at this year’s festival.
