Primary Plus is an English program for primary school students, consisting of six levels. The aim of the course is to develop children's confidence in communicating in English, while helping them to mature in life.
In the Primary Plus 2 course, equivalent to the Grade 2 English curriculum, the British Council will help children approach broader topics through useful, familiar English lessons. The curriculum in this course is divided into six separate sections, each of which is about topics revolving around children's daily lives.
Module 1: How do you feel?
Each child will have their own feelings about life and the environment around them. Therefore, letting children freely express their emotions in English will help them feel cared for and more interested in learning. The vocabulary and sentence structures in this section will also be easier for children to understand. Through English lessons about emotions, children will be guided towards positive emotions and learn how to comfort others.
Module 2: My Room
In this section, students will review the furniture vocabulary and prepositions of place learned in the Primary Plus 1 course and learn new words to describe their dream room.
Module 3: What do you do?
In Module 3, you will review the present simple tense and get familiar with the present continuous tense to talk about different jobs or dream jobs, and you will also present your views on each career.
Module 4: School
This is one of the topics that is extremely close to young learners. With the vocabulary and sentence structures provided, teachers will somewhat understand the subjects that children like or dislike as well as listen to their thoughts and feelings through this second language.
Module 5: Wildlife
When learning English in grade 2, the curriculum is a continuation of the modules that children have learned before, for example Module 6 - Farm in Primary Plus 1. With Primary Plus 2, children will expand their knowledge of animals in English and learn how to describe an action or a part of an animal's body in English. Children will also be provided with more knowledge about endangered wild animals and ways to protect the remaining species.
Module 6: Special Days
By the final level of the Primary Plus 2 course, students will know how to write a card on the occasion of a special holiday or festival of the year, describing the characteristics of the holiday they want to mention.
Above is a brief overview of the British Council's Primary Plus 2 class. With a modern curriculum divided into topics and a team of experienced teachers, it will certainly give children great inspiration to start learning English and integrate into the world in the future.
