Âm nhạc của chúng mình (Our Music) is a survey and archiving project of the collective Action for H’mong Development (itself consisting of young members of H'mong communities) which seeks to preserve and promote the music of H'mong people in North-Western provinces (Điện Biên, Hà Giang, Yên Bái, Lào Cai and Sơn La). Having recorded nearly 100 melodies and songs, the collective then worked with Hmong musicians to compose new instrumentation for those. The online release of the project documentary and the newly-instrumented tracks will be marked with a project-closing event in Hanoi in December 2019.
Our Music project also published a book called Vang vong dan ca. The book focuses on folk melodies in Hmong people’s daily lives in order to archive information, knowledge and folk songs collected through field trips in targeted provinces during the project implementation.
